Mobile Immunization Campaign

As a result of the national power blackout that hurricane Maria prompted, almost all vaccines stored where lost due to the lack of proper refrigeration. Coincidentally, floods produced several repositories of stagnant water, the perfect environment for mosquitoes and other pests to reproduce, anticipating a spike in mosquito transmitted diseases. Other factors, such as the mass death of farm animals and the lack of clean, potable water has foretold the advent of a national health emergency.

Aware of this problem, Por Los Nuestros connected VOCES Coalición de Vacunación y Prevención, an experienced immunization non-for-profit organization, in order to help fund a mobile immunization campaign. Our contribution to this initiative ascended to $20,000 which helped immunize around 1,300 mostly indigent Puerto Ricans.
