Our team has partnered up with the grass-root Waves For Water initiative in the mission to provide purified water to larger communities by virtue of the installation of stationary gravity water filtration systems producing up to 600 gallons of water per day. The pilot program has currently adopted 25 communities to be supplied and trained on the utilization of this water filtration methods.
The selection of communities to be served currently prioritize on Non-Prasa Community Systems. This are 240+ small independent community water supply systems not served by the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA), providing water to more than 100,000 people in Puerto Rico. The peculiarity of this systems reside on their vulnerability to energy shortages which are a long term problem for this typically rural communities. As long as they don’t have electrical power, they don't have water. Further efforts will be guided by our Team towards the energization of this systems.
